Ctelecoms-Copilot-March-2025-edition

Welcome back to our monthly update at what's new with Microsoft 365 Copilot! It's March 2025, and as always, we've got the details on the latest and greatest features designed to make life easier and more productive for your users across all their favorite Microsoft 365 apps.

So what's new this month? Let's take a quick look!

New Copilot data source in Microsoft Purview Data Explorer:

The Data Explorer in Microsoft Purview gives you a quick view of things you're tracking, like items with labels for sensitive info, how long to keep them, and private details. Now, Copilot is getting added here! This new feature will let you see if anything you ask Copilot or anything it tells you includes those private details. This will start being available in April.

Microsoft 365 Copilot Business Case Builder for small or medium sized businesses:

Wondering what productivity gains from AI could mean for your small or medium sized business? We’re excited to launch the Microsoft 365 Copilot Business Case Builder that helps small and medium sized businesses estimate a three-year return on their investment.

* The term "M365 Copilot Business Case Builder" refers to a resource, tool, or process designed to help organizations build a compelling business case for adopting Microsoft 365 Copilot.

A Microsoft 365 Copilot Business Case Builder is basically a helper guide for companies deciding whether to get Copilot, the AI assistant for apps like Word and Teams. It shows the good things Copilot offers, like making people more productive and creative, and improving teamwork. The guide gives examples of how different departments (like sales or HR) can use it to solve problems, helps figure out if it's worth the money by estimating time and cost savings, and clearly explains the licensing costs. It also touches on how to set it up, including training and keeping data safe, often providing proof with studies or success stories and maybe even templates to build the argument. Ultimately, it helps a company focus on its own needs and make a smart, informed decision by weighing the benefits, costs, and overall value of bringing Copilot into their business.

New Pay-Per-Use Option for Copilot Chat Tools:

Now, companies can choose to pay only for what's used when employees use special tools called "agents" inside Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat.

Company managers (called Admins) can easily turn this pay-as-you-go option on right from the main Microsoft 365 settings website (the admin center). They don't need to go to a different site anymore. They just need to go to the Copilot settings page and link it to the company's billing account (using details like an Azure subscription).

Once this is set up, employees who don't have a full Microsoft 365 Copilot license can still use these "agents" in Copilot Chat, and the company just pays based on how much they're used. This feature became available last month (March 2025).

Use Copilot in Teams Calls Without Recording:

Now, you can use the Copilot helper during your live Teams calls or meetings without having to save a recording or a written transcript (a word-for-word copy) of the conversation afterwards.

This is great for meetings about private or sensitive topics where you don't want a permanent record kept.

Once your company manager (Admin) turns this option on, you can just click the Copilot button during the call to start using it without recording. Copilot can still help you during the call by noting down important points, who owns tasks, and what needs to happen next. This means you can focus more on talking and listening instead of taking notes.

This feature was available for testing starting last month (March 2025) and should be available for everyone next month (May 2025).

Make Cooler Content with Copilot Pages:

Now, when you use Copilot Chat, you can create more interesting things than just plain text. Using information from your work files or the web, you can ask Copilot to make:

  • Code blocks: For sharing computer code clearly.
  • Diagrams: To show steps in a process (like a flowchart).
  • Tables: To organize information neatly.
  • Charts you can interact with: To make complicated data easier to grasp visually.

You can easily add all this cool content to Copilot Pages. Think of these pages as documents you can work on. You can then edit or improve this content on the page, getting help from Copilot or working together with your coworkers.

When you share these Copilot Pages using Microsoft 365, everyone sees the latest version automatically, making teamwork smooth and easy. This new feature is starting to become available this month (April 2025).

Adding content to Copilot Pages is simpler and more flexible. You can easily insert Copilot's responses into a brand new page or add them to an existing one. Plus, if you're chatting with Copilot, you can even use its responses cross several different pages at the same time, a helpful feature that was introduced in March.

Access data from the web with Copilot in Excel:

It's now even simpler to find online information while working in Excel with Copilot. You can directly search the web for things like dates and numbers without ever having to leave Excel, making it quick to find public data and even insert it into your spreadsheets as tables, just like easily looking up and adding country money exchange rates to your workbook – this handy feature was released in March.

Use Copilot agents in Copilot Chat in Outlook:

Now, when you use Copilot Chat in the new Outlook, you can also use "agents." These agents can help you automatically do tasks and run business steps without you needing to leave Outlook. This helpful addition became available in March.

Gain insights from images from your OneDrive folder with Copilot:

Copilot in OneDrive now lets you get information from your photos by simply asking questions. Instead of having to look through all your pictures to find what you need, you can just choose a photo and ask Copilot. It will then tell you the relevant details. This easy way to learn from your images became available in February.
