Ctelecoms recently hosted a highly informative webinar, "Say Goodbye to Complexity: Cisco’s Seamless SDN Experience," on Wednesday, December 25th. The session provided valuable insights into Cisco's Software-Defined Networking (SDN) solutions and their transformative impact on the modern network infrastructure.

The webinar featured expert speakers Mr. Islam Manakhly, Solutions Architect Manager, and Mr. Amr S. Mohamed, Sr. Solutions Architect, from the Operations Department. They guided attendees through the core principles of SDN and explored Cisco's key SDN offerings.

The agenda covered the following key areas:

• Introduction to SDN: The session began with a clear definition of SDN and its fundamental principles, highlighting the benefits of this approach in today's dynamic network landscape.

• Cisco’s SDN Solutions:The webinar then explored Cisco's comprehensive SDN portfolio, including: SD-Access: A deep dive into Software-Defined Access, explaining its architecture, features, capabilities, and various deployment scenarios.

• SD-WAN: A comprehensive overview of SD-WAN, including its architecture, key components, and how it simplifies wide area network management. Much of this section focused on a detailed comparison between SD-WAN and traditional MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching), highlighting the benefits of SD-WAN in terms of flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and performance.

• ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure): An exploration of Cisco ACI, its architecture, components, and how it enables application-centric network management in data centers.

The speakers clearly articulated the benefits of SD-WAN compared to MPLS, including increased flexibility due to dynamic path selection and easier network changes; cost optimization through the use of less expensive internet connections; improved application performance through intelligent traffic routing based on real-time network conditions; and simplified management through centralized control, thereby reducing the complexity of managing multiple MPLS circuits.

The webinar concluded with a lively Q&A session, where attendees had the opportunity to ask Mr. Manakhly and Mr. Mohamed their specific questions about Cisco SDN and its applications.
